Country Chicken Curry - Yummy Dish with semi gravy - Old Indian Kitchen

How to make local chicken or country chicken as a delicious gravy - Old Indian Kitchen.


Hello gorgeous people, welcome back to your Old Indian Kitchen.

Storm has passed by! Fasting period  is over :-D, hurrah ! I was delighted to see my husband coming with a mouth watering native chicken, it's skin had been burned with turmeric in the butcher shop. So my first level of work is already over, now I am really happy to cook, lets enjoy 😍

Ingredients for my chicken recipe:

  • Curd 200 grams.
  • Country chicken 500 grams.
  • Onions 3.
  • Fresh Garlic cloves 8.
  • Ginger 1/2 inch.
  • Cumin powder 2 tbsp.
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp.
  • Pepper powder 1/2 tbsp.
  • Green chili 2
  • Salt for taste.
  • Sugar 1/3 tbsp.
  • Potato 2

Recipe for my style chicken gravy:

  1. Wash and clean the country chicken and divide all in two bowls including 500 grams each. i am going to cook 500 grams for two people.

  2. Marinate the chicken using 4 tbsp of curd and 1 tbsp of turmeric powder.

  3. Keep it in a refrigerator for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  4. Meanwhile, peel the onions, garlic and ginger.
  5. Grind all separately in a grind jar and keep all the pastes in different bowls.
  6. Now all the masalas are almost ready, peel 2 potatoes and cut them in center.
  7. If 45 minutes is over, take out the marinate chicken bowl from refrigerator.
  8. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a iron cooking pot, add a little sugar in the oil and also add the chickens.

  9. Allow them to fry for 7 to 8 minutes.

  10. Meanwhile take another deep cooking pot or karahi.
  11. Heat 2 tbsp of oil and first add the garlic paste, then add the ginger, fry them for 30 seconds in low heat.
  12. Add the onions paste and mix all the ingredients properly and fry them for 5 to 6 minutes in low heat.
  13. Add 1/2 tbsp of turmeric, 1 tbsp of cumin powder and 1 tbsp of coriander powder.
  14. Mix well.
  15. Now transfer the whole chicken semi fries to this cooking pot.

  16. Allow them to cook with onions and mixed masalas.

  17. Add 1 tbsp of cumin powder along with 1/2 tbsp of pepper powder.

  18. Add the potatoes and cover the karahi for 20 minutes, check after every 4 to 5 minutes.
  19. Add salt for taste.
  20. Wait till the chicken is cooked and becomes soft.

  21. Just add two cups of warm water.
  22. Stir them carefully.
  23. Allow them to cook with water for 15 minutes.
  24. Now your beautiful semi gravy dish will be ready.
Serve it with steam rice or butter naan/paratha.

*Try this recipe and try the country chicken, its really tastier than the hybrid one.
**If you wish you can make it in the same cooking pot. Pre frying chicken is optional.
***You can fry the chicken directly with the onions, ginger-garlic paste.

In auspicious days, we Indian people are doing fasting, actually its a very good habit. Sometimes a partial fasting or complete fasting help you to be more spiritual and also help you in releasing the bad toxins from your body.

I too do partial fasting one two times in a year. In many of our families, we are using split yellow moong daal to make the main course of fasting.

Moong Daal is very light and low fat daal and good for sick and fasting people. Many people will find fasting food as a boring food.Today I will guide you to how to convert this boring food into a yummy delicious food without using restricted ingredients.😉

Vegetable mix daal for Fasting main course

Ingredients:

  • Yellow split moong daal 100 grams.
  • Mix Vegetable as per your choice (Papaya, carrot, green peas, potato) 50 grams
  • Ginger 1 inch for daal and 1/2 inch for chutney.
  • Pure ghee for daal 2 to 3 tbsp.
  • Squeezed lemon 2 tbsp for chutney.
  • Salt (Special salt which is used for fasting).
  • Sugar.

Daal Recipe:

  1. Wash and clean the moong daal and soak in water for 3 hours.

  2. Put a cooking container on gas stove and add 500 ml water.
  3. Meanwhile you cut vegetables as per your choice. In my recipe, I am using carrot, potato only.

  4. Once water starts boiling, add 95 grams of moong daal and keep that remaining 5 grams for chutney.
  5. Add salt and 1/3 tbsp of sugar in the container.
  6. Once water and daal starts boiling together, you will see a white layer on the top.

  8. If more white layers are coming,them remove them all with the help a ladle.

  9. Add chopped ginger and allow them to cook in low heat.
  10. Cover the daal for 20 minutes.
  11. Check the daal, if it is boiled properly, then turn off the heat.
  12. Add the pure ghee for mouth-watering smell, it will make your boil dish delicious.You can have stomach full food with the help of this ghee smell.

Recipe for Moong daal chutney

  1. Take one grind jar.
  2. Add the remaining 5 grams of moong daal with peeled ginger, salt and squeezed lemon.

  3. Grind all smoothly.
  4. If required, add 1 tbsp of water.
  5. Your fasting yummy appetizing chutney will be ready in 2 minutes.

Rice Payash - Sweet Delicious dessert - Old Indian Kitchen

Hello everyone, welcome back to your Old Indian Kitchen.

 Today is one of  the auspicious days of Indian culture, we are celebrating Maha Shivaratri 2017 in honor of god Shiva🝤. In Shivaratri, devotees worship Shiv lings with diya, agarbatti, bael leaves and milk and offering sweets as a prashad.


I am one of the devotee of lord Shiva and I plan to make one sweet dessert - Rice Payash -  to worship my Shiva. It is a very yummy sweet dessert and easy to make. You can make this special dish in any occasion or any day or  when you wish to have😇.

Ingredients :

  • A good fragrance rice (jeera rice/ gopal bhog rice/ Joha chauol) 60 grams.
    Kheer rice
  • Pure cow milk 1 litter.
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Cardamom 3 to 4.

  • Cashew 7
    Milk and other ingerdients
  • Raisins 10
    dry fruit
  • Milkmaid/ Condensed milk  150 ml.
  • Pure ghee 2 tbsp

Recipe:

  1. Light on the gas and put one container. In my case, I am using one 2 litter cooker. I use it only for auspicious event.
  2. Add 1 litter milk to the container and make them boil.
  3. Add 1 bay leaf and 3  split cardamom at the same time.

  4. Clean and wash the fragrant rice.

  5. Once milk starts boiling, just decrease the heat and stir them with a ladle.

  6. Add the rice and stir them well.
  7. Stir continuously to avoid burning.
  8. Check the rice, if it is cooked 70%, please add the cashews and raisins.
  9. Again stir them well and permanently put one spoon there to avoid overflowing.
  10.  If the dish is cooked 80 %, just add the condensed milk to the container.

  11. Allow them to cook 100 % .
  12. check one rice by pressing, if its cooked properly, then add 2 tbsp of ghee and 1 crunched cardamom.

  13. Turn off the heat.
  14. The process will take about 45 to 50 minutes.
  15. I take out a small quantity in a glass bowl to offer to my lord Shiva.

Roasted Tomato Chutney for Momos - Less spicy Chutney with a perfect taste - Old Indian Kitchen

In my previous blog Momos - Yummy chicken Momos - Old Indian Kitchen , I promised you that I would share the Momos Chutney recipe very soon. So today, I am going to share this recipe. It is quite easy and very yummy in taste.

In Momos, chutney is the heart of the dish. Without a perfect chutney, we can't enjoy much.

For me, health and enjoyment, both are very important. So, that you can see, I never make too much spicy dish. My today's recipe is also a less spicy one and you can serve it to the people of all ages.
Generally, in street foods, vendors are using Kashmiri Red Chillies in Momos' chutney for extra spice and color. But I am sorry, I am not going to use that, as I am preparing this for you all people.😊


Ingredients:

  • Fresh red tomato 1 or 2.
  • Fresh Garlic clove 7 to 8
  • Chopped coriander leaves 1 handful
  • Peeled Ginger 2 cm
  • Chopped Spring onions 1 handful
  • Salt 
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Green chilies 1 or 2.

Recipe:

  1. Wash the tomato and make it dry.
  2. Apply 1/4 of tbsp mustard oil on it.
  3. Light on the gas and decrease the heat.
  4. Put one roaster on it and put the tomato on top of the roaster. If  you don't have any roaster, you can put the tomato directly on the burner.

  5. Roast it until the color changes .

  6. Rotate the tomato with the help of a stick. So that it could be roasted by all the sides.

  7. A nice smoke smell will come in within 15 minutes, then please turn off the heat.
  8. Meanwhile, you peel that garlic cloves and roast them in iron pan for 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Remove the outer burn cover of the tomato and add it to a grinder jar.
  10. Add other ingredients garlic, chili, ginger, coriander leaves, spring onions and salt in the same jar.
  11. Grind them all without adding water for 5 minutes in high speed.
  12. Check and arrange the ingredients, add 1 tbsp of oil and grind all until it becomes smooth.
  13. Take out all in a air tight kitchen bottle.
  14. Keep it in refrigerator, you can serve this with Momos and any other items (chapati,rice also).

Crispy hot Potato Fries - Crunchy Finger Chips - Old Indian Kitchen

How to make Potato fries as an evening snacks - Old Indian Kitchen.

The weather is so perfect to have some hot snacks.
Lets prepare it quickly and enjoy. The "Crispy Potato Fries" is a simple easy recipe and I am going to prepare it in my own way.

Ingredients:

  1. Potato 3 .
  2. Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp.
  3. Salt for taste.
  4. Pepper powder.
  5. Vegetable oil.

Recipe:

  1. Peeled all the potatoes.
  2. Soak them in water.
  3. Take one potato and make it dry using kitchen cloth.
  4. Take one knife.
  5. Cut the potato horizontally and make round uniform slices.
  6. Now Arrange every slices one in top of other.
  7. Run the knife on it maintaining equal distance.
  8. Now you will get many finger sized potato pieces.
  9. Cut all other potatoes in a same manner.
  10. Marinate all the pieces with 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tbsp of pepper powder and salt.

  11. Heat oil in a deep iron cooking pan.
  12. Add a little potatoes in each time and deep fry them in low heat.

  13. Fry until it becomes golden fry.
  14. Increase the heat to make them crispy.
  15. Take out all in a bowl with tissue paper, tissue paper will help to remove the extra oil.
  16. Fry all the potatoes in a way.

  17. All you need a little patience and you will get a lovely crispy finger chips fry at your home.
  18. Serve hot with any mayonnaise/ sauce.

Today we are going to prepare a healthy salad named "Orange salad". It is a very simple recipe, I learned it from my in laws family.

Orange itself is a very healthy and tasty fruit, it contains a large number of  vitamin C, A, Potassium, Calcium etc. We can make many different mix salads by using oranges, it gives a good flavor and taste to your dish.

My today's recipe is a simple orange salad, we are not going to mix it with any other salad.

Ingredients:

    nagpur orange
  • Fresh Oranges 2.
  • Salt for your taste.
  • Chili
  • Mustard oil

Recipe:

  1. Peel the oranges.
  2. Pith the oranges perfectly.
  3. Make small pieces of the oranges.
  4. Put it on a bowl.
  5. Take 2 green chilies.
  6. Chop them well.
  7. Add the chilies.
  8. Add salt for taste.
  9. Add 1 tbsp of mustard oil.
  10. Mix them well and serve it at lunch time.

We foodie guys always love to try and experiment new dishes and sometimes we go outside (food corner, restaurant) for  searching a different awesome taste.
Many times, I visited  many restaurants and ordered tandoori items as a starter and I noticed that they were providing some green chutney with the tandoori/ grill items. The taste of that chutney is awesome, without that we can not get  the full enjoyment of that tandoori starters.Previously I guessed, they were buying this chutney somewhere else and its an artificial one. Then one day, I got to know that special recipe from one old article and I am surprised that we can make anything without using any artificial ingredients and this is one of the healthy chutney ,we can make it easily at home.


There are lots of ways to prepare green coriander chutney. But, today I am going to share this recipe named "Coriander chutney in a restaurant style".😋

At restaurant,we first tasted this chutney

Ingredients:

  • Fresh coriander leaves 1 bunch.
  • Fresh Garlic 7 pieces.
  • Ginger 1 inch.
  • Cumin seed 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  • Squeezed lemon 3 tbsp
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Chili 2
  • Curd without water 1 small bowl (30 grams )

Recipe:


  1. Wash and clean the coriander leaves.
  2. Take one small grinder jar.
  3. Add the leaves inside the jar without water.
  4. Add cumin seeds for nice flavor.
  5. Add ginger and garlic  and the challis.
  6. Grind all for 1 minute.
  7. Stir them with a spoon
  8. Add the curds.
  9. Add the sugar and salt.
  10. Grind all for 3 to 4 minutes in maximum speed.
  11. Then add the squeezed lemon, if required add more salt and sugar, just check it well.
  12. Grind all together for 3 to 4 minutes and make it a smooth paste.
  13. After that, take out all in a glass bowl.
  14. Add 2 tbsp of mustard oil and mix them properly.
  15. Nice beautiful restaurant like chutney is ready, you can serve it with any grill, tandoori, steam items. 
  16. Keep this chutney in refrigerator and you can use it for a week.
