How to make a healthy banana trunk dish - Old Indian Kitchen.Good evening all.Welcome to Old Indian kitchen cooking.
Today, I am going to share one recipe which is a very unique, tasty and of course very healthy.Hope you all know about the banana tree.Banana Tree is the greatest creation of god. It is very useful from top to bottom, we eat banana for energy, use its leaves for puja and many other purposes. Also we take banana blossoms and trunk as food. Banana Trunk Sabji is very healthy dish for diabetic and uric acid patients.
Ingredients :
- Banana Trunk 1 - a foot long
- Onions 1
- Chop Garlic 1 tbsp
- Chilly 1
- Tejapatta or Indian Bay Leaf
- Raw Moong Dal 2 tbsp
- Turmeric
- Salt
Cooking Process:
- First remove the outer covers till you get the inner most trunk.
- Chop the trunk in a very small pieces.
- Crush the chopped trunk properly with a big spoon.
- Meanwhile chop the onions in medium pieces.
- Wash 2 tbsp of moong dal
- Heat 5 tbsp of mustard oil in cooking pot.
- Add the bay leaf first.
- After that, add the oinions,garlic,chilly,moong dal and fry together in low heat for 3 minutes.
- Add 1/2 tbsp of turmeric powder, mix them well.
- Now add the chopped trunk and mix them with ladle.
- Add salt as per your taste.
- Cover the cooking pot for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Check repeatadly with ladle,then again cover the cooking pot.
- Cook it for half an hour.
- Healthy banana trunk dish will be ready in a half an hour,you can serve this with steam rice or chapati.
