samosa or samoosa or singra is a fried or baked dish with a mix vegetable filling, it is one the most popular snacks in India. We generally love to have samosa at tea time, it completes our snacks plate in the evening time. Today I am going to share samosa recipe with potato filling, but you can prepare any favorite filling of your choice.

Ingredients:

For potato filling
  • Boiled potato 2
  • Green peas 2 tbsp
  • Roasted cumin seed 1 tbsp
  • Sabji masala 1 tbsp
  • Chopped Onions 1 handful.
  • Chopped Cashew 3 (optional)
  • Fried peanuts 1 tbsp
  • Chopped raw ginger 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Turmeric 1/2 tbsp
For samosa outer layer
  1. Maida 60 grams.
  2. Ghee/ vegetable oil 3 tbsp.
  3. Black cumin seed 1/2 tbsp.
  4. Ajwain 1/2 tbsp
  5. Water
  6. Curd 2 tbsp

Recipe:

  1. Peeled the boiled potato.
  2. Grate all.
  3. Add fried peanuts, cumin seed, fried cashew

  4. Heat 2 tbsp of oil.
  5. Add the onions, peas and potatoes with all other ingredients.
  6. Fry all and add salt.
  7. If required add 3 tbsp water and dry out the stuffing.
  8. Take out all in a plate.

  9. Meanwhile make the dough using maida, ghee/vegetable oil, black cumin seed, ajwain, water and Curd.
  10. Try to make it smooth and cover the dough with a wet cloth for 30 minutes.
  11. After 30 minutes, make small balls (3 cm diameter) from the dough.
  12. Roll on the balls, make oval shape.
  13. Now cut it by half.

  14. Make each piece a cone.

  15. Fill that cone with potato stuffing.
  16. Apply normal water in edges of  outer layer and seal it properly.

  17. Now prepare all the samosa in the way.
  18. If you wish you can deep fry each samosa in a deep cooking pot using 1 bowl of vegetable oil.
  19. If you love backed samosa --- apply 1 tbsp oil to brush all the samosa very gently.
  20. Now preheat the oven for 20 minutes and back all the samosa for 30 minutes in convection mood.
  21. Serve it warm with any sauce of your choice.

Today we are going to prepare a very popular Indian sweet. Yes, we are going prepare some soft spongy rasgullas. Its quiet an easy recipe and you can prepare it with less effort & less ingredients. Hope you will enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • Milk 1 litter
  • Sugar 100 grams
  • Water 500 ml
  • Vinegar 1 tbsp
  • Maida 1 tbsp

Recipe:

  1. Boil the milk in a container.
  2. Add vinegar.
  3. Milk will be curdled within 5 minutes.
  4. Allow it to cool in room temperature.
  5. Drain the water and collect the cheese in a clean kitchen cloth.
  6. Tie up the cloth and refrigerate it for 1 hour.
  7. After 1 hour, take out the cloth.

  8. Take out the milk cheese from the cloth.

  9. Make smooth dough with that milk and 1 tbsp of maida.

  10. Make small balls from the dough.

  11. Meanwhile make the sugar syrup using 95 grams of sugar and 300 ml water, boil the mixer until sugar is completely melted.
  12. Take out the sugar syrup in a bowl.
  13. Now add water to a cooking pan and add 2 tbsp of sugar.
  14. Add the milk balls.
  15. Allow them to boil for 12 minutes.
  16. Now take out all the rasgullas from the boiled water and add all to the sugar syrup.
  17. Allow 1 hour to cool in room temperature and serve homemade rasgullas to your friends.

Hello everyone, hope you are doing good. Today we are going to learn the easiest and a quick recipe "Egg Malpuwa". It is an old Indian food. It is one the best dishes for  evening snacks.

"If fresh hot tasty snacks can be ready in 10 minutes, why should we go for ready made one" - Lets make it and enjoy it.
Malpuwa

Ingredients:


  • All purpose flour/ Maida 100 grams.
  • Sugar 4 tbsp
  • Milk 1/2 cup
  • Egg 1
  • Oil 5 tbsp

Recipe:

  1. Take one bowl and add the maida and sugar.
  2. Beat one egg and add to the maida
  3. Mix them well.
  4. Now add milk make the batter.
  5. Add 1 tbsp oil to the batter.
  6. Try to make a semi watery paste.
  7. Now heat 4 tbsp of vegetable oil in a deep cooking pot.
  8. Decrease the heat.
  9. Put 2 tbsp of batter in the oil to make each malpuwa.
  10. Deep fry all.

Matar Ghugni - Dry Matar recipe - Old Indian Kitchen

How to make dry peas gravy - Old Indian Kitchen



Hello everyone, welcome back to your Old Indian Kitchen.


Again, I am bringing a very simple less spicy Indian dish to you. It is a well known dish in India, people call it "Matar Ghugni".

 Dried peas are low cholesterol & energy booster food. It can be taken by  people of any age group. Its also very easy to find in the market. So lets start with me and enjoy your day !

Dry peas recipe
Ghugni (My lunch box)

Ingredients:

  • Dry yellow/ green peas 100 grams.
  • Onions slices using 1 big onion. (60 grams)
  • Cumin seeds 1 tbsp.
  • Cumin powder/ any sabji masala 1 tbsp.
  • Peeled potato 2 ,make two pieces each.
  • Chili 2.
  • Oil.
  • Turmeric.
  • Salt.
  • Sugar 1/4 tbsp.

Recipe:

  1. Wash and soak the peas in the water for overnight/ 5 hours.
  2. Boil the peas with water, salt and one peeled potato.
  3. I am using pressure cooker to boil the peas, just allow one whistle, simmer the cooker for 5 minutes.
  4. Once cooker releases its inner gas, heat 3 tbsp of oil in a cooking pan.
  5. Add the cumin seeds and simmer the gas.
  6. Add onions, saute them well.
  7. Add split chili 2.
  8. Add turmeric and sugar.
  9. Saute them well
  10. Once onions raw smell is gone, just add the boiled peas+potato without water.
  11. Mix them well.
  12. Add cumin powder/ any sabji masala.
  13. Add the remaining water from the cooker.
  14. Allow them to boil for 5 to 7 minutes.
  15. All process will take 20 minutes.
  16. You  can serve it warm with chapati/ rice/ bread/ samosa etc.
* If you wish , you can add fried paneers after step 13.
*You can garnish the dish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

How to make baby corn dry Manchurian - Old Indian Kitchen


This is one of those foods which attracted me so much due to its lucrative look! Finally I got its taste in 2003 😄. But I was still wondering if I could prepare it myself. The day came finally when I dared to do that! To my utmost happiness, all my friends really liked it and asked me share the recipe. Hence I am sharing the same.  
baby corn manchurian

Ingredients:

  • Baby corn 70 grams
  • Cornflour 5 tbsp.
  • Chopped Ginger 1 tbsp.
  • Chopped Onion 3 tbsp.
  • Chopped Garlic 2 tbsp.
  • Chopped chili 2.
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp
  • Tomato ketchup 2 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil 
  • Chopped Spring onions/ fresh coriander leaves 1 handful.

Recipe:

  1. Wash and cut the baby corns by half.
  2. Boil them in water for 10 minutes.
  3. Drain out the water.
  4. Marinate all the corns using cornflour, water, 1 tbsp soya sauce and little salt.
  5. Heat 4 tbsp of oil in a cooking pan.
  6. Deep fry all the corns in a non sticky pan and keep them aside.
  7. Now add the onions, chili, garlic and ginger in the same oil.
  8. Saute them well.
  9. Add 1 tbsp of soya sauce and tomato ketchup.
  10. Mix them well.
  11. Add 100 ml water if required and add the fried corns.
  12. Dry out the water.
  13. All process will take 25 to 30 minutes.
  14. Take out all in a plate and garnish the dish with spring onions/ fresh coriander leaves.
  15. Serve it hot as a starter.

Palak egg Curry - Spinach egg curry - Old Indian Kitchen

Palak egg curry recipe - Old Indian Kitchen


Welcome back guys.



Today, we are going to make an unique recipe named "Palak egg curry".  Previously I shared one recipe Palak paneer, which is almost similar with the today's recipe. Just we are using eggs instead of paneer.

Palak egg

Ingredients:

  • Palak / Spinach 3 bunch.
  • Fresh chopped  Onions 1 handful.
  • Chili 2.
  • Fresh  chopped Garlic 2 tbsp.
  • Fresh ginger paste 1/4 tbsp.
  • Mustard oil /Refine oil 2 tbsp.
  • Turmeric 1 tbsp.
  • Salt.
  • Sugar.
  • One peeled potato.
  • Chopped tomato 2 tbsp.
  • Egg 2.
  • Cumin seed 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tbsp

Recipe:

For eggs:
  1. In an empty cooker, I apply 1/2 tbsp of oil in the bottom.
  2. Beat two eggs and mix the white and yellow part perfectly.
  3. Put all in pressure cooker and allow one whistle only.
  4. When pressure cooker release its gas, I make medium pieces of the eggs and keep them for curry.
For gravy:
  1. Wash and clean the Palak leaves.
  2. Place the leaves inside a microwave safe bowl with 1/2 tbsp of salt and sugar and 1/2 cup of water.
  3. Cut the potato and add it with the Palak to boil them together.
  4. Microwave them for 10 minutes.
  5. Take out the green leaves to a grinder jar without water,
  6. Grind all the leaves until become smooth.
  7. Heat oil.
  8. Add the cumin seeds, onions and garlic, ginger, chilies, tomatoes to the oil.
  9. Fry all together in low heat.
  10. Add turmeric and cumin powder.
  11. Stir them well.
  12. Now add the boiled potato and press it with the ladle.
  13. Crunch the potato into small pieces with the ladle.
  14. Now add the green smooth Palak paste.
  15. Stir them well.
  16. After 3 to 4 minutes, just add the warm water from the bowl (the remaining water where all leaves are boiled).
  17. Once dish start boiling, check the salt and add as per your requirement.
  18. Now add the eggs pieces and mix them well.
  19. After 4 minutes of boiling, turn off the heat.
  20. Serve it warm with steam rice or chapati.

Different vegetables contain different nutrients. So we should not miss any of the seasonal vegetables and fruits. My today's recipe is quiet a simple one. This is a very simple, traditional pumpkin recipe without comprising the yummy taste.

Ingredients:

  • Pumpkin 100 grams.
  • Onion 1.
  • Cumin seed 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tbsp.
  • Turmeric 1/2 tbsp.
  • Chili 1.
  • Salt
  • Sugar 1 tbsp.
  • Oil 1 tbsp.
  • Pure ghee 1 tbsp.(optional)

Recipe:

  1. Wash and peel the pumpkin.
  2. Remove the seeds and keep them aside.
  3. Make small pieces of pumpkin.
  4. Make onion slices from one medium sized onion.
  5. Heat oil and add cumin seeds.
  6. Add onions and chili.
  7. Saute them in low heat.
  8. Once, onions become golden brown color, add the pumpkins.
  9. Saute them well.
  10. Add turmeric, cumin powder, salt and sugar.
  11. Mix and cover them for 3 to 4 minutes.
  12. Add 2 cups of warm water.
  13. Allow them to cook for 10 minutes.
  14. If pumpkin become soft, turn off the heat.
  15. Add pure ghee and serve warm with steam rice or chapati.

Today I am bringing  a very high nutrient dish to you. It is a less popular but a very healthy dish. You can use raw moong beans in your diet menu, but believe me, cooked moong beans contain more nutrients. I am sure, you will like it.

Moong beans tadka

Ingredients:

  • Whole moong beans 200 grams.
  • Cumin seeds 1 tbsp.
  • Chili 2.
  • Onions slices 1 handful.
  • Grate garlic 1 tbsp.
  • Turmeric 1 tbsp
  • Peeled potato 1.
  • Salt.
  • Cumin powder/ any sabji masala 1 tbsp.
  • Butter 1 inch. (optional)
  • Oil.

Recipe:

  1. Wash and soak the moong beans 5 to 8 hours.
  2. After that, boil the moong beans with a peeled potato and a little salt.
  3. For boiling use pressure cooker, it will take less time and allow only one whistle, after that simmer the cooker for 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. If cooker release the gases, then heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  5. Add the cumin seeds first, once it starts crackle, add onions and garlic, chili.
  6. Fry all in low heats.
  7. Add turmeric.
  8. Add sabji masala.
  9. Saute them well.
  10. Add the boil potato first and press it with the ladle, mix all properly.
  11. Add the boiled moong beans.
  12. Saute them well and turn off the heat
  13. All cooking procedure will take only 20 to 25 minutes.
  14. Add butter and serve it warm with chapati.

Rasmalai is a creamy juicy dessert from old Indian kitchen. Among all the sweets, I consider it as the queen.

My sister always cooks something special for me. Today I am going to share my siso's rasmalai recipe which is very simple and delicious. She prepares this only for me😊.

Ingredients:

For the balls:
  • Dry milk powder 200 grams.
  • Egg whites.
  • Backing powder 1 tsp.
For the liquid syrup:
  • Milk 1 litter.
  • Cardamom powder 1 tbsp/ Whole cardamom 3
  • Sugar 30 grams.
  • Saffron (optional)
  • Almond slice/ pistachios slice 2 tbsp

Recipe:

  1. Beat two eggs and collect the whites in a bowl.
  2. Now make a smooth dough using milk powder, backing powder and egg whites.
  3. Once dough is ready, make small round/flat pea sized balls.
  4. Meanwhile boil the liquid milk in a low heat and stir contentiously.
  5. Add the split cardamom or cardamom powder.
  6. If you have saffron at home, then add a 1/4 tsp of saffron to the milk.
  7. Add the sugar and stir them well.
  8. Add the milk balls.
  9. Allow them to boil for 5 minutes in low heat.
  10. Turn of the heat and garnish the dish with almond/ pistachios slice.
  11. Allow them to cool in room temperature.
  12. Serve it cool.

Today we are going to make a very simple traditional egg curry. It is a very delicious dish and less time consuming, also it requires very few ingredients.

So its an advantage, if your kitchen has not enough things to cook, you can make this and enjoy a lot.

Simple easy egg curry Old Indian Kitchen


Ingredients:

  • Boiled and peeled egg 2.
  • Onions slices (using medium sized onion 2)
  • Chili 2.
  • Salt
  • Turmeric.
  • Oil 2 tbsp.
  • Cumin powder.
  • Fresh crunched  mixer of 4 cloves, 3 cardamom, 1 inch cinnamon.
  • Tomato sauce 1/3 tbsp.
  • Sugar 1/4 tbsp.

Recipe:
Egg curry

  1. Heat oil in a deep cooking pot.
  2. Apply 1/4 tbsp of turmeric and salt to peeled eggs.
  3. Fry until it become golden brown color, keep them aside.
  4. Now add the onion slices, fry them in low heat.
  5. Add 1/2 tbsp of turmeric, sugar and salt.
  6. Add tomato sauce and stir them well.
  7. Add cumin powder or any sabji masala.
  8. Saute them well.
  9. Add one and half cups of warm water.
  10. Make them boil and add the fried eggs.
  11. Add split chili to the curry.
  12. All process will take 15 to 20 minutes.
  13. Turn it off and garnish the dish with fresh crunched  mixer of 4 cloves, 3 cardamom, 1 inch cinnamon.
  14. Serve it warm with chapati or steam rice.
