 How to make Luchi/Poories- Old Indian Kitchen.

Luchi Bhaji - Old Indian Kitchen

 Luchi and Poories are the same for me. It is one of the delicious dishes, which I love from my childhood days. Life becomes more eventful when we celebrate it with wonderful dishes.Yes, this type of dishes, we generally cook in special events. On the occasion of Saraswati puja, Durga puja, Lakshmi puja, we prepare luchies in the evening and serve with vegetable sabji or chole or any paneer gravy or alu dom. Its really very yummy, once you taste a little, it will make you have more and more.


Ingredients for Luchi:

  • Alta/ Maida/ All purpose flour 150 grams.
  • Refine oil.
  • Warm water.
  • Salt.
  • Black cumin seed or Kala jeera 1 tbsp.**
  • Ajwain  1/2 tbsp.**

Recipe:

  1. Take one medium size bowl .
  2.  Add the flour with 2 tbsp of oil and 1/3 tbsp of salt.
  3. Add black cumin seed and ajwain.
  4. Mix them well.
  5. Add 40 ml water and mix them with hand.
  6. Add more water if required and try to shape them well.
  7. A thick flour paste will be  ready in a 5 minutes and you should try make the paste soft and smooth.
  8. Make equal size round balls (medium size) with the paste or dough.
  9. Roll out one ball until it become light.
  10. Make it four pieces by cutting it with knife.
  11. Heat 100 ml oil in deep cooking pot.
  12. Decrease the heat.
  13. Drop the 1 piece gently.
  14. Press gently with ladle and then turn it back.
  15. Once fry with nice golden color, take out the luchi in a plate.
  16. In this way, you roll out all the balls, make pieces by dividing the dough.
  17. Deep fry all.
  18. Serve it hot.

** Ajwain and black cumins are not neccessary to add.But I love ajwain,black cumin flavour, so I add, it brings more taste to luchi.
